XOLO Play Tegra Note Review

Sony Xperia Z1 Review

Sony was the first of the big-name manufacturers to launch a new 2013 flagship smartphone back in March, with the Sony Xperia Z, a 5-inch model outwardly rather similar to the new Sony Xperia Z1.

The Xperia Z beat the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 to market, offering a quad-core processor, 1080p display, 13 megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM, and water and dust resistance. It was awesome. And still is, seeing as so little time has passed since it arrived.

But now there's a new Sony flagship for theautumn/winter season, in the large, glossy shape of the Xperia Z1. There's a more powerful processor inside, a higher-spec camera and a new metal chassis, but it's still recognisably related to the older Z, both in design terms and the software it runs.

Nexus 5 Key Specs Confirmed By Leaked Service Manual

Fresh purported evidence about the rumoured Nexus 4 successor has been spilled out, thanks to a leaked service manual that is said to reveal its specifications.

Android Police has published a service manual for the LG-D821 variant which was formerly believed to be the LG G2's CDMA-variant. The leaked manual reveals complete specifications of the alleged Nexus 5 along with diagrams, images, and flowcharts of the device.

At that point in time it wasn’t really obvious just how critical larger-display smartphones were going to be in the future, nor just how close the smartphone market was to becoming a mature one. In a mature market it’s all about filling in the niches, something Samsung has been doing since the very beginning by casting a very large form factor net with its lineup of android devices.

Capsule Review: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Superclocked ACX

Looking at the launch of the GeForce GTX 780 in retrospect, one of the more unusual aspects of the 780 was just how close NVIDIA let their lower-tier GK110 card get to the upper-tier GTX Titan. GTX 780 was able to deliver 90% of GTX Titan’s performance, but did so at just 65% of the price of GTX Titan.

Now a 10% performance gap is a fairly common gap for high-end NVIDIA cards. The price gap on the other hand is clearly wider than normal. For example, in the last generation the GTX 680 and GTX 670 were separated by roughly the same performance gap, but the GTX 670 came in at 80% the price of the GTX 680, not 65%. Ultimately NVIDIA’s “prosumer” positioning made Titan a very expensive card for gaming, with the end result being that the more strictly gaming focused GTX 780 could deliver very similar performance at a much lower price tag.

First look: Xolo's Nvidia-powered Play Tegra Note tablet

Nvidia CEO and Co-founder Jen-Hsun Huang, took the wraps off its latest innovation - the Tegra Note 7 reference platform - at an event in Mumbai yesterday. Huang clearly stated that Nvidia would not be making the tablets


themselves and it would be left upto their partners. Present at the event was Vishal Sehgal, Co-founder and Director, Lava International which is the parent company of Xolo. Sehgal unveiled the first tablet based on the Tegra Note platform called the Xolo Play Tegra Note.

Seagate Wireless Plus looks like any other portable hard disk from the outside, although it's slightly wider and heavier in order to accommodate the extra circuitry needed to provide wireless access and power backup. It comes with two indicator lights - a charging/ low battery indicator, and the broadcast LED that lights up when the drive is ready to accept Wi-Fi connections.

Microsoft to release Windows 8.1 on October 17

Consumers waiting for Microsoft's revamped version of its latest Windows operating system will be able to get the software beginning Oct. 17.

The release date for Windows 8.1 is nearly a year after the debut of Windows 8, a dramatic overhaul of the operating system that has been powering most personal computers for decades.

Microsoft Corp. unveiled its plans for Windows 8.1 three months ago, but hadn't set a release date until Wednesday. At test version of Windows 8.1 that may still include some bugs has been available since late June.

Nvidia Working on Second-Gen Surface RT Tablet

Nvidia confirms it's working on the second-generation Surface RT tablet.

On Thursday Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang admitted to CNET that the company is "working really hard" with Microsoft on the next-generation Surface RT tablet. The news arrives after the company said that it's committed to Windows RT for the long-term, that it sees a great future in the ARM-compatible version of Windows 8.

"Surface RT is the very beginning of a long process and it's the first shot in a changing landscape," Rene Haas, vice president of computing products at Nvidia, previously said. "Microsoft is moving the entire Windows platform to something really mobile."
